Mahesh Masanam — data & ML engineer
I sat at a burning ghat for three nights. Now I’m building systems that remember.
This is the public record of the systems I ship, the things I write, and sarpOS — a personal AI project still being built in the open. Some of it works today. Some of it is still intent. I’ll show you which is which.
Have a question about any of it?

The work
Start with what’s actually built.
Reference builds in data and machine learning — pipelines across Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and AWS. Complete, readable implementations on GitHub rather than client case studies. This is the groundwork sarpOS grows out of.

The system I’m building to remember.
Most software forgets the moment it’s done. sarpOS is my attempt at the opposite — a personal system to hold a life of work and recall it when it matters. It’s early: today that means Vasuki, the assistant on this site. The rest below is the shape I’m building toward, stated as intent, not as a finished product.
- 01ObservationTake in what I make — systems, essays, notes, the things I notice.
- 02MemoryKeep what matters, and let the rest fall away.
- 03RetrievalFind the right fragment at the moment it's needed.
- 04UnderstandingReason over what it holds — inside limits I set, citing its sources.
- 05ActionHelp me think, plan, and work — then record what happened.
sarpOS is the system I’m building. Vasuki is the part you can talk to today.
Read the thinking behind itMemory · in words
Some of it began in Varanasi.
In 2022 I sat at the Manikarnika ghat past midnight, three nights running. The Witness started there — essays on death, memory, attention, and the discipline of noticing. Writing is how a person remembers on purpose.
- May 18, 2026What survives the burningThe Aghora is right about death. The builder is right about life. The mistake is having to pick.
- May 16, 2026Getting to VaranasiSome cities you visit. Varanasi you bring back with you.
Observations
Fragments of attention.
Photographs are evidence of looking. What I read is what feeds the work. A kept line is a small piece of memory, held on purpose.

Whatever the person did — the degrees, the job, the house, the savings, the love, the fights — none of it gets on the bamboo. Sit at Manikarnika long enough and that stops being a thought and starts being the weather.

The voice
Vasuki answers from what is recorded here.
Ask about the work, the writing, sarpOS, or where to start. Vasuki uses the public pages on this site as context, and it should say when the record does not contain an answer.

Let’s build something useful.
I build data and machine-learning systems, and I’m building sarpOS in the open. I’m open to collaborators — on data infrastructure, retrieval, ML, and AI systems. Tell me what you’re building, and I’ll tell you honestly if I can help.
